Tracy Cowdell
Lead Vocals
Biography:
Tracy Scott Cowdell serves as the lead vocalist for the rock ensemble DeNovo. With his charismatic appearance and compelling stage presence, he epitomizes the quintessential rock star. Tracy boasts a well-deserved reputation for his dynamic live stage performances. He is known for his artistic expression, technical prowess, and emotional depth, all of which coalesce to create an immersive audience experience. Tracy is well-read and a rock 'n' roll historian. DeNovo's performances offer a musical and historical journey through the most iconic rock music in history.
Professional Life:
Tracy received degrees from the University of Utah (Summa Cum Laude) and Brigham Young University. His experience as a former elected official lends a nuanced perspective to his current role as managing partner of Cowdell Law, where he specializes in representing elected and governmental officials. This unique blend of academic rigor, public service, and legal expertise renders him a versatile and highly competent legal practitioner. His work often navigates the complex interplay between legal frameworks and public policy, a task requiring both legal acumen and policy sensitivity.
Scott Hunter
Guitar & Vocals
Biography:
Scott (Scottie) Hunter plays guitar and does backup vocals for DeNovo. He hails from Niagara Falls, Canada and has been magnetized to music from his earliest memories. He is self-taught on guitar, loves to sing, and write original music - he also enjoys dabbling on the bass, drums, keyboards, and whatever instrument is in front of him. Scottie had the opportunity to work at a converted Warner Bros. Studio near Buffalo, NY and recorded hundreds of tracks playing various styles and genres
Professional Life:
Scottie was also blessed to have traveled the globe for 5 years - backpacking in Australia, Asia, and Africa busking guitar in the streets and playing with local musicians. Scott holds a Bachelors of Commerce, an MBA, a Certificate in 4DX, and several other accreditations; he has been an entrepreneur with businesses in product innovation and manufacturing consulting for 30 years.
Craig Howe
Bass & Vocals
Biography:
Craig Howe is the bassist in the Salt Lake City rock band DeNovo. Craig is a classically trained bassist, pianist, and organist, having started playing all three instruments by the time he was 10 years old. He has played the string bass in several orchestras and the bass guitar in jazz bands and rock bands. He was the bass guitarist for the Utah All-State Jazz Band during his senior year in high school. He previously played keyboards for DeNovo before becoming the band’s bass player.
Professional Life:
In his professional life, Craig is a lawyer and partner at a Salt Lake City law firm. He clerked for a judge on the Utah Court of Appeals after law school. He currently practices law in the areas of business litigation and defense of medical-malpractice claims.
Darin Bybee
Keyboards & Harmonica & Percussion
Biography:
Darin Bybee is the keyboardist in the Salt Lake City rock band DeNovo. Darin started out learning the classics, which gave him a foundation of music from Bach to Mozart. He started playing with rock and roll bands in high school and has played in many bands throughout his life. He plays keyboards, trumpet, harmonica & percussion. He studied music composition and performance in college and appreciates all types of music. DeNovo has been a great opportunity for him to play all types of music with talented players.
Professional Life:
Darin has been in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over 30 years in both management and corporate positions.
John Greenlaw
Drums & Percussion
Biography:
John Greenlaw is the drummer in the Salt Lake City rock band DeNovo. John started playing drums in middle school and played in several bands when he was in high school. John was recruited to join DeNovo by his father after their original drummer moved. John has never looked back and provides the rhythm and groove for DeNovo.
Professional Life:
John has a degree in computer networking. He is currently working for Amazon.com.
James Greenlaw
Guitar & Vocals
Biography:
James Greenlaw is a guitarists in the Salt Lake City rock band DeNovo. His playing is deeply influenced by the vibrant music of the Sunset Strip in the heart of Los Angeles, California, where he grew up. James began playing guitar in high school and played in several bands in his youth. When asked to join DeNovo, James was thrilled to have the opportunity to play in a band again. James plays a multitude of guitars depending on the song, but his favorite is his Fender Stratocaster.
Professional Life:
James has a degree in information technology, with an emphasis in web development. He works as the Senior Marketing Technology Manager for major 3PL shipping company in Salt Lake City.
